The FZ50 is equipped with a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens that features 14

elements in 10 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and an ED (extra-

low dispersion) lens that helps suppress the color bleeding that can

occur in telephoto shots. This advanced lens also boasts a 12x optical

zoom (35mm equivalent: 35 to 420mm) that pulls even distant objects into

your range. Add the FZ50's large, 1/1.8" diagonal 10.1-megapixel CCD and

you have extraordinary expressive power. The FZ50 also features Extended

Optical Zoom, which gives you up to 21.4x power by magnifying (with

minimal deterioration) the image using the center area of the high-

resolution CCD.

* Intelligent ISO Control Forestalls Motion Blur

The FZ50 features the world's first intelligent ISO control for ISO

sensitivity setting, which uses a circuit with Venus Engine III to

detect movement within the frame and helps you get blur-free shots by

automatically adjusting the ISO sensitivity (up to ISO 800) and shutter

speed according to how much the subject is moving.

* ISO 1600 minimizes Motion Blur

Thanks to an improved noise reduction system, the FZ50 can shoot at up

to ISO 1600 (manually adjustable) with full resolution. This lets you

use higher shutter speeds to capture children, pets or other moving

subjects with less motion blur. The FZ50's Scene mode also features a

High Sensitivity Mode that raises sensitivity to a level equivalent to

ISO 3200, letting you shoot at even faster shutter speeds to further

reduce motion blur.

* Intuitive Control with Manual Focus and Zoom Rings

Two rings on the FZ50 lens barrel give you complete manual control of

zooming and focusing. You get levels of speed and accuracy simply not

possible with button operation. You'll enjoy not only the precise

control these rings give you, but also the satisfying feel that only

manual operation offers.

* Accurate, Flexible Focusing both Auto and Manual

Use any of five auto focus modes: 1-point (normal/high-speed), 3-point

high-speed, 9-point, and spot. The manual focus ring lets you adjust the

focus from about 1 foot (0.3m) to infinity. The FZ50 also has Manual

Focus Assist, which makes it easier to focus by enlarging a part of the

image that you see in the viewfinder or LCD monitor. This all adds up to

quick, easy, accurate focusing.

* Two Command Dials let you make settings without Changing Your Grip

Two dials on the camera top make it easy to adjust the exposure setting

while holding the camera to your eye. In Manual mode, one dial adjusts

the aperture, the other adjusts the shutter speed. In Aperture Priority

and Shutter Priority modes, one sets the aperture or shutter speed, the

other sets the exposure compensation (-2 to +2 in 1/3 EV steps). Being

able to change these settings without changing your grip makes it easier

to catch spur-of-the-moment shots. The large right hand grip makes the

camera easy to hold, and these dials are exactly where you need them.

* Free-Angle 2.0" Diagonal LCD with Wider Adjustment Range

Change the angle of the LCD monitor any way you like. You can get a

comfortable look at the 2.0" diagonal, 207.000-pixel monitor even when

shooting over a crowd or taking a low-angle shot of a flower. We've also

increased the vertical adjustment range to 180 degrees for easier

shooting in portrait orientation.
