"These antique sterling flower earrings date from around the turn of the century and are not only hand made, but are unique in the way in which they were made. Most old silver earrings were hammered or stamped out of silver. These are made from silver that was poured into a mold and the texture of the flower petals is evidence of this very old technique. The surface of the metal is pock marked with pores from the old mold. The earrings also have 5 round beads around the petals, and these beads made it easier to "" pop"" out of the mold. The earrings are screw backs and are signed sterling. The center is a prong set emerald green glass stone. The silver areas around the green glass stones have a slight gold tint as it appears some gold was used in the pot metal mix. Actually, the gold is more noticeable in the photos than in person as the camera flash creates more gold coloration then there is. The flowers are medium size at 5/8"" wide. The earrings are all original and no chemicals have been used to clean the silver. Just a silver polishing cloth is all that was needed. Very fine to excellent condition, extremely low wear and no imperfections. "
