"During the Art Deco Period, Topaz Amber glass beads were very fashionable necklaces and this color are very rare to find. Not only is this necklace rare in color, but it is also rare because the beads are hand cut box cuts, and the necklace is very long and heavy. The box cut golden amber beads are heavy lead glass and all sides of every box bead are faceted or angled. These old lead glass beads reflect light tremendously in a color spectrum from deep amber, to honey amber, to bright golden yellow. Between the amber beads are clear glass disk beads and the necklace is hand knotted between the amber beads. The necklace is strung on thick and strong cotton cord that has a tan foxing from age. The necklace is about 40"" long and is one continuous loop. The larger box beads are 3/8"" up to 1/2"" wide and the smaller box beads are 1/4"" up to 3/8"" wide. The necklace weighs a whopping 133 grams or 4.7 ounces! There are 61 amber glass box beads total! I have inspected and gently cleaned all six sides of each and every bead and even under magnification, there are no serious signs of wear. A couple of beads have some tiny flea bites on the edges, but you would be hard pressed to find them. This necklace is pristine and clean! This stupendous 1920s Art Deco necklace is a fabulous presentation piece in glowing golden amber. It is a rare treat ! "
