"This hand made baroque pearl pin is a 1960s fashion that is very rare to find. The pearls are unique baroque shapes and the sides that are facing up are diamond shapes. In the 1960s and early 1970s, the Japanese experimented with plastic shapes seeded into oysters to culture live pearls. The technique worked very well, but production was limited for only a few years. The pearls have incredible luster, but thin nacre coats as these are young pearls with some minor blemishes. The pearls are tightly clustered in a flower design with prong set clear rhinestone chatons around the center. Under some lights, the pearls might appear to have a light champagne color. The pearls are strung on double strength monofilament that is sewn to a button hole style back. All of the pearls and rhinestones are perfect, present, and original with no scratches or loss of shine. This pin is exceptionally clean as well. It measures 1 5/8"" wide and has the original fine working safety clasp. The gold metal on the back has a light patina from age. The pin is not signed, but Im certain it was made in Japan. "
