"In the Florida Keys, there was a small clam shell that I used to love to collect. These earrings are not clam shell. They are carved rose quartz, but they look exactly like the clam shells I refer to. In shallow waters on the sandy flats, if you squiggle your toes down the sand you can grab one of two things. Live sand dollars, or little live clam shells with the prettiest pale pink and light yellow stripes. These shells are called Sunrise Tellins, or Tellina radiata. If you click on the more images link below the main photo, Ive added a photo of this shell to show the resemblance. These vintage 1970s clip earrings are hand carved rose quartz and they are carved diamond shapes. The edges are perfectly smooth and the quartz is glossy and scratch free. The earrings are an eggshell white with light pink stripes. They measure 1 3/4"" long x 1 1/4"" wide and both earrings are in pristine condition with no chips, cracks or signs of wear. The clips are like new and are strong with tight snap. The earrings are not signed, but they might have been made in Mexico. "
