Copper Bracelet Nice Antique Art Nouveau 1920s Germany

"When it comes to antique copper bracelets, this one is a true gem. It was hand made by a very skilled coppersmith during the Arts and Crafts period or the late Art Nouveau period, or about 1910-1920. Art work on a bracelet like this, made from any type of metal from the Art Nouveau period is very rare to find. The bracelet is exceptionally long and wide at 6 3/4"" x 2"" to accommodate all the ornate art work. The solid bands on the outside edges are classic Art Nouveau repeating patterns of overlapping heart loops with interior finials and pendant drops. The pattern is framed on both sides with beaded rope edging. The interior of the bracelet is also very eye catching. The large open work flowers were all hand cut, and this type of precision work is a trademark of old German coppersmiths. Around most of the openwork areas on the back you can see thick black outlines. The pattern on the front was first machine stamped to achieve the raised flower detail. The areas that are now openwork were cut out with a small torch tool, similar to a wood burning iron but hotter. Small rough spots around the openwork areas on the back also demonstrate how it was cut by hand from front to back. Also notice the recessed areas on the front are blackened or heat scorched and after polishing, the raised areas revealed are bright copper. Look at the graceful curves of the hand made end pieces. They are perfectly crafted, smooth and symmetrical with no tool marks. The bracelet is marked SOLID COPPER in a very old print style that is only about 5 point type size. The type of copper is most certainly German. It is thick but malleable and has a bronze like patina. Copper of this quality does not turn green. All of these elements are invisible to the untrained eye, but the beauty of art work is not ! Excellent condition with no wear, scratches or dings. Looks like it has never been worn or bent to shape to a wrist. A Truly Fabulous Art Nouveau find and probably not many like this were produced."
