"This very unique vintage copper necklace is a design not often seen. The row of raindrops or tear drop shaped copper beads is a magnificent display when worn. The necklace has two different sides and is reversible. The tear drops are convex and framed on one side and on the other side they are concave and heat burnished black. The necklace dates from the 1950s and is signed Solid Copper in small type font. Most people might assume that this is an early Renoir design, but it is not. The necklace was made in West Germany or Germany where skilled coppersmiths were making these designs before Renoir began. Few people know that in fact, Jerry Fels of Renoir was inspired by German copper designers. This necklace is in pristine condition with no wear, scratches, dings or other imperfections. The copper is also very clean, free of any dirt or grime. This type of heavy German copper will not turn green. The necklace was made to be worn as a choker style and the shape of the tear drop section is not flexible ; it must curve around your neck as the beads are strung on stiff wire. The necklace is 17 1/2"" long. The design is 1 1/2"" long with the tear drop pieces being 1 1/2"" long and the copper balls are a large 10 mm. This eccentric copper necklace can be worn with all other types of copper earrings and bracelets. This necklace was not mass produced and I'm certain very few like this were made."
