"These earring are made of real Japanese cultured pearls and Austrian crystals. In the 1950s and 60s, the Japanese first experimented in bleaching and dying cultured pearls. Many of the colors they produced never sold well because the colors were bright red, blue, orange and green. The did make some purple and Lavender, and a few US jewelry designers saw a market for these colors. These earrings were made in the 1950s and are signed Alice Caviness. The lavender pearls are 5mm and are young cultured pearls with a thin nacre. The faceted disk shaped crystals are lavender as well and are set in polished gold metal frames. The earrings are clips and they also have pretty silver metal filigree backs. The clip backs are unworn and are strong with tight snap. The earrings are 1"" wide and are in excellent like new condition with no wear and are all original. Exceptionally clean as well. You dont see real lavender pearls often ! "
