"This very old turquoise Czech glass necklace has very unique character. It was made in the Czech Gablonz region in the first 30 years of the 20th century, or 1900-1930. It is very uncommon to find glass beads like these, and beads wired in this fashion. The necklace is a very long piece at 78"" long. The barrel beads are turquoise blue satin glass. These rare barrel beads are called Crimped Canes. The beads are hand made cane beads, not molded beads, and were crimped all around with the glass blowers pinching tools. The glass is not uniform in color as you can see faint swirls of darker blue and white. The canes were composed by twisting these two colors together to create the turquoise blue. Each bead has a thin brass wire inserted through the middle and the wires were hand twisted to the next bead. Old hand wiring of this nature are very rare to find. Each bead is roughly 6-7 mm long. All of the beads are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The brass wire has a darkened patina from age but no grime or greening. The whole necklace is exceptionally clean and pristine. The necklace is one continuous loop and does not have a clasp."
