WHAT IS ALPACA SILVER?

It is a metal alloy made of most commonly nickel, zinc and copper, but can contain iron as well. It contains no real silver but is sometimes plated. The blend makes the wire stronger then silver and holds is luster just as long. Its metal is similar to Stainless Steel but more flexible. It's easy to care for and clean and does not tarnish or rust. Alpaca Silver jewelry is hypoallergenic and lightweight. "ALPACA" is a tradename for nickel silver and despite its name it does not utilize any part of the alpaca (or Andean llama).

HOW DO YOU CARE FOR ALPACA JEWELRY?

Simply wearing your jewelry helps prevent, or at least slow, the oxidation process keeping your jewelry looking new. We recommend that to clean or brighten your jewelry, simply wipe with a mixture of warm water and a mild soap and dry completely. Do not use chemical silver cleaners or alcohol as this will damage your jewelry. Do not spray perfumes directly onto your jewelry, as this may cause discoloration or damage. It is also acceptable to clean alpaca silver with a paste made with baking soda and a little warm water, using a soft toothbrush to clean crevasses.

WHAT IS ABALONE?

Abalone shell comes from shellfish (mollusks). It can be found in many places all over the world. The shells are often used to make jewelry and the colors vary greatly from iridescent, silver white to green-red mother-of-pearl to pinks and reds with blue, green and purple tones. It is usually complimented by silver jewelry. Abalone shell is known to be very strong, although it may seem fragile. It is believed to affect all of the Chakras (energy centers) in the body with its mesmerizing colors and to bring harmony to the soul. It is especially good for the heart, cleansing fear, sorrow and negative energies like depression. It also helps stimulate creativity and control anger with its calming mixture of colors.
