Hand Crafted Lapis Lazuli Copper Penny Earrings Vintage 1970s

"These unique 1970s vintage earrings were hand crafted. The crude flat copper disks are made from old copper pennies that were hammered until flat. There is no trace of impressions left on the pennies but this was a craft that was somewhat common in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The earrings are for pierced ears and each earring has four Lapis Lazuli stones ; three tubes and one round. There are loops at the bottoms of the tube beads and if you wanted to add extra beads to these earrings it would be easy to do. The copper retains the old patina and has not been polished. Both earrings are in excellent condition with no wear or imperfections. The pendant portion is 2 3/8"" long and with the gold metal ear wires, the earrings hang down about 2 3/4"" long. The pennies have been flattened to about the size of a US quarter, or 1 1/8"" wide."
