"Hattie Carnegie made a wide range of necklaces in both design and composition, but she did not make many necklaces like this one. It is very rare to find a Hattie necklace that is a modernist design, composed in just one medium. This Hattie necklace dates from the late 1960s or early 1970s. The necklace is a silver rhodium ribbon or drapery design with a large silver metal snake chain. The necklace is a long choker style. The large medallion is a heavy pot metal cast with a thick layer of silver rhodium. The medallion section is 8"" long, measured around the bottom of the curve and is 1 3/4"" wide at the center. The silver snake chains are each 6"" long x 1/4"" across. The necklace is 17 1/2"" long overall, around the circumference of the interior. The original fold over box clasp is in excellent working condition and the necklace is signed Hattie Carnegie on an oval cartouche on the back of the medallion. The necklace is in excellent condition with only very minor signs of wear. There is no missing or chipped rhodium, and no serious imperfections. The necklace is very clean and polished. On a mirror finish like this you can see some very tiny and minor scratches from handling or polishing, but the finish is very durable and will endure the test of time very well. "
