"This spectacular pin and earring set was made by Hogan and Bolas. All enamel jewelry by Hogan and Bolas was made in certain color schemes. While the colors were rather limited, it is very hard to choose a favorite because they are fabulous ! But ~ I must confess, these oranges and yellows are outstanding ! This vintage 1950s copper enamel pin and earring set is what I have coined as "" Oranges and Lemons"". The glowing translucent orange and lemon colors are luscious and mouth watering that looks like frozen jello. The pin is an round and concave with a flower pattern and the pierced earrings are petite drops with oval pools of enamel. The colors create a golden glowing effect when light hits the pieces at right angles. The way in which these pieces were made allowed the enamels to pool in thick layers, and as with all of Hogan and Bolas enameled jewelry, the enamels do not reach the very edge and you can see the exposed metal rim. In the thick glossy clear coat, you can see tiny air bubbles that are not visible to the naked eye. This is common with all Hogan and Bolas clear coats. The metal the enamel was applied to is silver rhodium plate. All pieces are in pristine condition with no chipped, cracked or scratched enamel. All pieces are perfectly smooth and glossy. There are no edge chips to the enamel anywhere. Only the pin is signed Hogan Bolas, but the earrings are part of the set and are not married. ( All earrings made by HB that were part of a set were not signed.) The pin measures just shy of 1 1/2"" wide. The tear drop portion of the earrings are rather small at just 5/8"" long, and with the screw back portions, they hang down about 1 "" long. * Hogan and Bolas enamel jewelry is a great investment as prices are rising fast. In 3 to 5 years, I estimate this particular set will be worth at least double in value, if not more. "
