"These Oriental character symbol earrings are made of carved Mother of Pearl and date from the late 1930's or early 1940's. Im not certain if they are Japanese or Chinese or what the symbols mean, but nevertheless they are very uncommon old earrings The screw back portion of the earrings are silver rhodium metal. The earrings hang down 1 3/8"" long and are 7/8"" wide. They are in excellent condition and appear to have never been worn. The Mother of Pearl has a glossy sheen and no dull spots."
