"These vintage hand painted copper enamel pins are very rare. They are certainly one of a kind. This Oriental boy and girl pair is perfectly charming ! I can tell you with great certainly that this pair was made in the early 1950s. It is evidenced by the type of enamels glazed on the backs and the types of safety clasps used. The oval shapes with smoothed edges are solid copper and compliment the shapes of the children's faces very nicely. The faces are slightly raised in relief as enamels, when hand painted, are very thick. The copper has a slightly darkened patina from age. The enamels are in perfect condition and the clear glossy top coat is perfect as well. The pins are not signed but are certainly a one of a kind set. Each pin measures 2 1/4"" long x 1 1/2"" wide.I admire this unique set a great deal. Not just because they are old, and Oriental, and hand made - but because of the way the pair matches together so nicely. I envision one on the lapel of a red or black jacket or blazer, and the other pin on the opposite side ! How sweet is that !"
