"Flamboyant, Fabulous old Flamingo Pin! This exotic, exceptionally large flamingo brooch dates from the mid 1950's. It is an extremely rare work of art and the price you see here is well below book value of approximately $ 800. The flamingo has marvelous three dimensional quality and is expertly crafted. This very flashy old bird will more than fill the palm of your hand ; it will almost cover your whole hand. This flamingo has deep 3D character as the gold metal and hot pink pearlescent enameled feathers are boldly ruffled. The upper area of the bird is paved in clear rhinestone chatons in various sizes that dazzle on a silver beaded background. The flamingo has a polished silver beak and green rhinestone eyes. The gold metal legs are light pink, thickly coated, poured enamel. This is a fabulous old piece with some light, very minor age to the gold metal on the back. No metal wear, just a slightly darkened gold patina the metal has taken on from age.Truly, a good indication of age to this piece. All of the rhinestones are original, present and clear. There is one small hair line crack in the light pink enamel on the flamingos' foot, which is a sign of age, not abuse. The flamingo is 3 5/8"" tall x 2 1/4"" wide and stands out 3/4"" front to back.
