Prong set above the multiple layers of gold gilt brass filigree are round Chrysoprase beads that were hand set in bezel and pronged settings. If you look closely at this piece, you will discover that is has 8 distinct layers ! Chrysoprase is the most precious and valuable form of Chalcedony. Old West German brooches made with these gems are very rare to find. The brooch is in mint, all original condition with no imperfections and no loss of gold gilt.
