MORE ABOUT CHIX WITH STIX.Several years ago, a group of my Women's Golf Association friends and I had an early morning tee time at a local golf course. We are all good golfers most with handicaps in the low teens. While waiting to tee off, a group of men came up behind us. We heard them grumbling about being stuck behind women, how their day was going to be really long and slow, blah, blah, blah. They were not particularly subtle about it either. They wanted to be heard. To add insult to injury, the Starter encouraged us to step up to the red tees and begin, when the group in front of us hadn't yet hit their second shots. We politely informed him, that since it was a reasonably short course, we were playing from the whites. The golf gods were smiling on us that morning: Everyone in our group hit a stellar teeshot. We were on the green in regulation and the worst score on the hole was a five. The second hole runs parallel to the first, so the second green is next to the first tee box. As we were about to tee off on number two, who do we see in our fairway, but the entire foursome behind us. These talented lads were having a problem; apparently not a one could put his shot in his own fairway. They also didn't step out of the way when our first golfer stepped up to tee off. This particular lady is a rather imposing figure; she is six-feet tall and has been playing golf since she was a child. She hit her drive and then another perfect shot. well over the heads of all of the men in our fairway. On the way by, she made the comment that men should watch out for "chicks with sticks, " We didn't see these guys again for the rest of our round. They were well behind us. That comment, however, developed into a successful women's clothing and accessory business called Chix with Stix and the four women in our group were among the original partners. 'The company has subsequently been sold, but is still operating under the name "Chix with Stix" . The four women are also still playing golf.
